Uptown Jerky Co. was founded in Oklahoma City, OK. by owner Mitchell Morris. In 2012, Mr. Morris had a near-fatal experience after being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. After spending many days in the ICU and hospital, his prayers were answered and he was able to go home. However, per doctors' orders, Mr. Morris was instructed to be on a very strict low carbohydrate diet until his blood sugar could stabilize. During this time, he began making his own beef jerky from home to enjoy as one of his favorite low carbohydrate, high protein snacks. As friends and family began to try his newly invented beef jerky snacks, they began requesting orders from him. Through God's blessings and grace, this is how business came to fruition.
